About Us

Birmingham CAB

The Citizens Advice Bureau is an independent service providing free, confidential and impartial advice to everybody regardless of race, sex, disability, sexuality, nationality, ethnicity, religion and belief.

We are the largest advice-giving network in the UK with over 2000 outlets and 22000 volunteers, and deals with almost 6 million problems every year

Birmingham CAB was founded in 1939 and we handle some 120,000 enquiries each yearacross Birmingham. The core service provides general advice and information across a wide subject area and specialist advice is available for debt and welfare benefits problems.

Our clients and volunteers come from all walks of life. We are committed to providing an independent advice service and volunteering opportunities to the whole community.

Advisers don't tell clients what to do, but explain their options and the possible outcomes of different courses of action. Clients are encouraged to make their own decisions and act on their own behalf. We enable clients to manage their own problems by focusing on their needs as individuals.

Inevitably the demand on our services outstrips our resources – any donation you make enables us to help more people.
